Wrangell Medical Center CEO leaving for Washington: 3 things to know

Wrangell (Alaska) Medical Center CEO Marla Sanger is leaving her position, effective Oct. 30, according to a SitNews report.

Here are three things to know about Ms. Sanger.

1. Ms. Sanger joined Wrangell Medical Center as acting CEO three years ago through a contract with Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth, which is affiliated with Wrangell Medical Center. She later became permanent CEO. She will now return to Southwest Washington to be closer to family, according to the report.

2. Ms. Sanger's departure from Wrangell Medical Center will mark the end of the PeaceHealth leadership contract and restore the leadership of the community hospital to the hospital board of directors and its existing and future executive leaders.

3. Ms. Sanger's decision to step down comes at a time when Wrangell Medical Center is moving forward in a number of ways and, as a result, is well positioned to seek a permanent CEO.
