Corey Fedie, CEO of Ritzville, Wash.-based East Adams Rural Healthcare, was terminated during an Oct. 22 board of commissioners meeting.

The board approved a resolution stating Mr. Fedie was terminated for cause, COO Dallas Killian confirmed to Becker’s.

According to the resolution, Mr. Fedie was terminated due to a “failure to perform any material duty or obligation under his agreement; failure to follow any reasonable directive of the Board related to Fedie’s official duties; and conduct that, based upon a reasonable factual investigation and determination by the Board, demonstrates willful or repeated mismanagement of the District’s business.”

Mr. Fedie told Becker’s he had served as CEO since June 2019.

“EARH leaders have publicly stated that I intentionally misled the Board of Commissioners,” he said in a statement. “This is completely false.”

Todd Nida is serving as interim CEO, bringing more than 30 years of experience to the role, according to the hospital’s website.

The board also recently approved a 2026 budget that includes turning its Ritzville Hospital into a rural emergency hospital. The approval followed a WARN notice filed for 108 hospital employees, citing potential bankruptcy or closure amid “severe financial difficulties.”

The hospital reported $13.4 million in losses from 2022 to 2024. Although it is expected to break even by the end of 2025 through a $2 million Washington State Hospital Distressed Fund allocation, its prior debt is unresolved.

East Adams Rural Healthcare includes Ritsville Hospital, Ritzville Clinic and Emergency Services and a mobile unit.
