Vermont hospital CEO exits

Peter Wright, president and CEO of Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, Vt., has departed from the role.

Mr. Wright and the board of directors “have mutually agreed that now is the right time for a leadership transition,” according to a Nov. 17 hospital news release shared with Becker’s.

COO Jonathan Billings has been appointed interim CEO. He has been with the hospital for 36 years and previously served as interim CEO for seven months before Mr. Wright assumed the role, according to his LinkedIn profile

During his three-year tenure as CEO, Mr. Wright helped the hospital establish the New England Collaborative Health Network, the release said.

Before joining Northwestern Medical Center, he served as president of Bridgton and Rumford hospitals in Maine from 2019 to 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before that, he was president and CEO of Valley Regional Healthcare in Claremont, N.H., for six years.

Northwestern Medical Center is licensed for 70 beds.
