VCU Health System appoints Dr. Peter Buckley EVP for medical affairs & medical school dean

Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University Health System appointed Peter F. Buckley, MD, its executive vice president for medical affairs as well as dean of the VCU School of Medicine. He will assume his new roles on Jan. 17, 2017.

Most recently, Dr. Buckley was executive vice president for medical affairs and integration and dean of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Before being named dean, he served for 10 years as chair of the department of psychiatry. He previously served as medical director for Northfield, Ohio-based Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare.

Dr. Buckley is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is a member of the data safety and monitoring board of the National Institutes of Mental Health. He has completed a fellowship in schizophrenia research at the University College Dublin School of Medicine in Ireland.
