Margaret Bollmeier was appointed president of the UNC Health Foundation and chief philanthropy officer for Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Ms. Bollmeier will join UNC Health in September after leading the Medical College of Virginia Foundation in Richmond, which raises funds and manages philanthropic support for VCU Health, according to a June 19 news release shared with Becker’s.

She will succeed Leslie Nelson-Bernier, who will transition from her role as chief philanthropy officer to her work with North Carolina Children’s — a comprehensive healthcare campus that will feature the state’s first freestanding children’s hospital, according to the release.

Prior to her tenure at Medical College of Virginia Foundation in 2015, Ms. Bollmeier served as associate dean at Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cornell University, executive director of the School of Education Foundation at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and assistant dean for advancement in the College of Education at the University of Washington in Seattle.

UNC Health is a 17-hospital health system.
