1. Dr. Smith has served as executive vice president and COO of UMass Memorial Medical Center since 2015.
2. He previously served in leadership roles at Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care, including as executive vice president and interim chief clinical officer.
3. He also led the Aurora Research Institute in Milwaukee.
4. He takes over from Patrick Muldoon.
5. Mr. Muldoon retired Jan. 31.
