Steven Newton is Baylor University Medical Center’s new president: 5 things to know

Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health named Steven R. Newton president of Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, effective July 9.

Here are five things to know:

1. In his new role, Mr. Newton will also oversee the health system’s Central Region, which includes three hospitals.

2. Most recently, he served as president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Grapevine (Texas) and the system’s West Region.

3. He has worked at Baylor Scott & White since 2004.

4. He holds a master’s degree in public health from Yale University in New Haven, Conn.

5. Eric Wallis, COO and chief nursing officer Baylor Scott & White-Grapevine, will take over as interim president of the facility.
