St. John’s Episcopal Hospital names first-ever CXO

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, N.Y., has named Margaret Frantz — a former flight attendant and patient advocate — as its first-ever chief patient experience officer.

The hospital created the new CXO position to “enable us to identify and implement practices that help ensure the patient experience throughout the hospital matches the high level of care we provide,” said Jerry Walsh, St. John’s Episcopal’s CEO.

Ms. Frantz spent nearly two decades as a flight attendant and purser. She has a law degree and a master’s in divinity and was on her way to becoming an ordained Presbyterian minister before joining St. John’s as a chaplain intern. She stayed with the hospital as a patient advocate, eventually becoming director of patient relations.

“Margaret Frantz has a broad background in patient care and is familiar with the hospital’s culture,” said Mr. Walsh.
