Shawnee Mission Health CEO to depart for new role within Adventist Health System: 5 notes

Shawnee Mission (Kan.) Health President and CEO Ken Bacon is departing, effective April 6. He will also step down as leader of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System’s Mid-America Region.

Shawnee Mission Health is a part of Adventist Health System.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Bacon will take on a new role within Adventist Health System, serving as CEO of the Centura Health South Denver Group hospitals.

2. He will also lead the Rocky Mountain Region of AHS.

3. He served as CEO of Shawnee Mission Health for six years.

4. During his tenure, he oversaw the launch of the Shawnee Mission Birth Center, renovations on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center campus and the creation of the Shawnee Mission Cancer Center, which is affiliated with the MD Anderson Cancer Network.

5. Mr. Bacon has worked at AHS for 25-plus years. His prior experience includes serving as president and CEO of Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos.
