Sharp Health Plan names Dr. Cary Shames CMO

San Diego-based Sharp Health Plan has appointed Cary Shames, DO, to vice president and CMO.

As CMO, Dr. Sharp will be responsible for SHP’s clinical operations, including quality, network management and performance, pharmacy, medical management and other activities.

For the past four years, Dr. Shames served as medical director for the Americas for ResMed Corporation. There, he was responsible for leading the healthcare economic strategies team in development and implementation of partnerships with health plans. Before joining ResMed, Dr. Shames served in executive and medical director positions in other managed healthcare organizations, including Anthem/Wellpoint, PacifiCare Health Systems and Aetna.
