Mr. Gentry is currently COO of Sentara Healthcare, a 12-hospital system based in Norfolk, Va. He has been with the system since 2008 and will conclude his tenure with Sentara July 1. An interim leadership structure is pending, according to a Sentara news release shared with Becker’s.

Mr. Gentry will start as CEO of 15-hospital Kettering Health July 3.

Since November, Kettering Health has operated under the leadership of Michael Mewhirter, the health system’s CFO turned interim CEO. Mr. Mewhirter stepped in after Fred Manchur — who had served as CEO of Kettering Health for 12 years — announced he would take a leave of absence before retiring at the end of 2022.

The health system is currently working with an outside firm to investigate allegations of inappropriate fiscal and operational management, with complaints specifically referencing Mr. Manchur and former board Chairman Dave Weigley and their alleged use of hospital funds for personal expenses.
