Saint Joseph Mercy, Mercy Health select new statewide chief strategy officer

Livonia, Mich.-based Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and Muskegon, Mich.-based Mercy Health named Kelly Smith chief strategy officer for the state of Michigan.

The organizations, both a part of Livonia-based Trinity Health, merged at the beginning of the year.

Ms. Smith previously served as regional chief strategy officer of West Michigan within the Mercy Health system. She has 25-plus years of healthcare experience.

Ms. Smith earned a master’s degree in hospital administration from The Ohio State University in Columbus. She participated in the Leadership Detroit program, an initiative of the Detroit Regional Chamber.

“The elevation of Kelly to this statewide role fulfills our strategic and operational objective on a broader and more effective scale,” says Mary Boyd, chief integration officer of the unified organization.
