Here are five things to know:
1. Mr. Phelps most recently served as COO of the hospital.
2. He has been with the hospital for 13 years, serving in numerous leadership roles, including vice president of diversified services and chief administrative officer.
3. He also served as CEO of Ridgeview Community Network. He led the development of Ridgeview’s first ACO.
4. Mr. Phelps is the third president and CEO in in the hospital’s 54-year history, succeeding Robert Stevens.
5. Mr. Stevens will officially retire on Dec. 31. He will remain at the organization through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
