Piedmont Healthcare Announces Passing of CEO R. Timothy Stack

R. Timothy Stack, president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, passed away yesterday at the age of 60.

Mr. Stack took a medical leave from his duties in early June. Piedmont Healthcare’s president of finance and development Greg Hurst took over the duties of CEO and will continue to do so.

Mr. Stack served as CEO for Piedmont Healthcare since December 2001. Under his leadership, Piedmont grew from two hospitals and eight physician practices to a $1.6 billion organization that includes five hospitals, more than 50 primary care and specialty physician practices and a 900-member, clinically-integrated physician network.

Before serving Piedmont, Mr. Stack served as president and CEO of Borgess Health Alliance as well as president and CEO of Borgess Medical Center, both in Kalamazoo, Mich.
