Mr. Morahan has led the organization for 20 years.

In a letter to staff members about his retirement, he pointed to some accomplishments he’s most proud of, including development of the Bern Township campus and Penn State Health St. Joseph’s 204-bed hospital that opened in 2006.

Mr. Morahan also noted the organization’s ownership transition from Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives to Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health, as well as Penn State Health’s recent capital investment to grow its cardiology, cancer and robotic surgery programs.

Penn State Health St. Joseph expects to appoint Mr. Morahan’s successor this spring.
