Michael Englehart was named president and CEO of Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Alliance, effective Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 15 news release shared with Becker’s.
Franciscan Alliance is the corporate entity for the Catholic system that operates under the Franciscan Health name, a rebranding adopted to strengthen the system’s presence across its hospitals and facilities.
Mr. Englehart will lead more than 17,000 employees across Indiana, spanning Franciscan Physician Network and 11 hospitals that operate under the Franciscan Health name, according to the release. He has served as senior vice president of Franciscan Physician Network and Franciscan Post-Acute Services since June 2025.
He succeeds Kevin Leahy, who announced earlier this year that he would step down after 30 years in the role and nearly 50 years with Franciscan. Mr. Leahy will remain with the system through Dec. 31 to support the transition.
Before joining Franciscan, Mr. Englehart spent two decades in executive roles at faith-based healthcare organizations including Chicago-based Presence Health, Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, Cincinnati-based Mercy Health and Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care.
