Bob Sutton, who served as president and CEO of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health from 2018 to 2023, has been appointed the next leader of Pierre-based Delta Dental of South Dakota.
Mr. Sutton will become executive vice president Dec. 1 and president and CEO in April, according to a Sept. 15 Delta Dental news release shared with Becker’s.
He will succeed Jeff Miller, who is retiring after 26 years with the organization and four years as president and CEO.
Mr. Sutton has more than two decades of healthcare and business leadership experience. He stepped down as CEO of Avera in 2023 for health reasons, Becker’s reported at the time, and before that was the system’s executive vice president of human resources.
Before joining Avera, Mr. Sutton served as president of the South Dakota Community Foundation for nearly a decade.
