Orlando Health CEO Sherrie Sitarik Leaves

Orlando (Fla.) Health President and CEO Sherrie Sitarik has left her position, effective immediately, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

Ms. Sitarik's departure is coming on the heels of layoffs, pay cuts and talks of unionizing at the health system. In August, Orlando Health announced plans to cut differential pay for employees working nights, weekends and holidays. The changes will occur in October. The health system has been affected by reduced Medicaid reimbursements and has been working on restructuring since November 2012. As part of this restructuring, Orlando Health plans to eliminate 400 jobs in the system. The layoffs and the announced pay cuts have led to employees considering unionizing.

Orlando Health spokeswoman Kena Lewis told the Orlando Sentinel "The leadership change at Orlando Health is based on the board's desire to position Orlando Health strongly for the future." When asked whether Ms. Sitarik resigned or was asked to leave, Ms. Lewis said, "All I can add is the board made the decision to transition leadership."

A nationwide search for a new president and CEO will commence soon, according to the report.
