Mr. Tsunis is chairman of NuHealth, the public benefit corporation that runs the hospital. He takes over from Winnie Mack, who left Oct. 15 after six months in the role.
This is the second time in two years Mr. Tsunis is taking on interim leadership duties at Nassau University Medical Center.
Mr. Tsunis has put together a search committee to identify the next leader of the hospital; however, no representatives from New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health are on the committee. Northwell and at Nassau University Medical Center entered into an agreement in 2018, per which Northwell would provide interim leadership and consultative services to the hospital.
