Roper St. Francis CEO Lorraine Lutton to depart for Bon Secours Mercy Health

Lorraine Lutton, president and CEO of Charleston, S.C.-based Roper St. Francis Healthcare, plans to step down for a new role at Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health, according to The Post and Courier.

The announcement comes along with the news that Charleston-based Medical Society of South Carolina, Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health and Bon Secours Mercy Health are planning to restructure their Roper St. Francis Healthcare joint venture. Per the restructuring, Atrium Health will divest its stake in Roper St. Francis, leaving Bon Secours Mercy Health and the Medical Society of South Carolina to jointly own and operate the health system.

Ms. Lutton will step down from her current position at Roper St. Francis to become market operations executive at Bon Secours Mercy Health, effective Jan. 1, 2020.

When she was named president and CEO in 2016, Ms. Lutton became the first woman to lead Roper St. Francis Healthcare. She was previously president of Tampa, Fla.-based St. Joseph's Hospital.

A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she also holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
