NorthWest Georgia Oncology Centers names new president

Atlanta-based NorthWest Georgia Oncology Centers has named Madhurima Uppalapati, MD, as its new president and medical director.

Dr. Uppalapati, who served as interim medical director in 2019, began her new role Jan. 1, the cancer center network announced Feb. 12.  She is responsible for the strategic direction of NorthWest as well as internal operations of its facilities. 

During her tenure at NorthWest, Dr. Uppalapati played a key role in implementing a professional services agreement with Marietta, Ga. -based WellStar Healthcare System, the organization said. She is also involved in the organization’s EHR transition. 

Dr. Uppalapati completed her fellowship training at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and has an executive MBA from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in Athens. She is a board-certified oncologist.
