Northwell taps market president, 2 hospital presidents

New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health has appointed three leaders in its Central Market, which includes six hospitals and 250 ambulatory care locations.

Jon Sendach was named executive vice president and president of the Central Market, according to an Oct. 14 health system news release. He has been a Northwell hospital leader for more than 20 years, previously serving as president of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., and deputy market president.

Mr. Sendach succeeds John D’Angelo, MD, who became Northwell’s CEO on Oct. 1.

Michael Gitman, MD, was named president of North Shore University Hospital, returning to the hospital after serving as president of Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park since 2021. He also was medical director of NSUH beginning in 2014.

Lenny Nartowicz will succeed Dr. Gitman as president of Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He most recently served as deputy president of Northwell’s Eastern Market and deputy executive director of South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, N.Y.
