Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital hired its second interim CEO in two months after the abrupt departure of former chief executive Robert Wolleben in June, according to News 7.

Officials selected Charles Gijanto to serve as interim CEO of the hospital. Mr. Gijanto currently serves as interim CEO at neighboring Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. He was appointed to the role at the Ogdensburg, N.Y.-based facility in May.

Massena Memorial officials said in a prepared statement Aug. 21 that Mr. Gijanto will take over the CEO role next week, and that they expect him to stay in the position for the next nine to 12 months.

The hospital, which announced a plan Aug. 20 to transition its assets to the town of Massena in a bid to privatize and eventually affiliate with another hospital, said Mr. Gijanto’s dual role as CEO of Claxton-Hepburn does not mean the hospitals will partner with one another.

Mr. Gijanto previously served as interim CFO for Massena Memorial in 2015.

The appointment marks Massena Memorial’s second CEO since its former chief executive unexpectedly resigned in June. Mr. Gijanto replaces Ann Gilpin, who was contracted to serve as head of the hospital for two months.
