Nationwide Children’s taps first quality chief

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, has selected Maitreya Coffey, MD, to serve as inaugural chief quality officer. 

As quality chief, Dr. Coffey will oversee the health system’s center for clinical excellence, according to a May 5 news release shared with Becker’s. She will also provide clinical care as a pediatric hospitalist and will be a professor of pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. 

Dr. Coffey most recently served as associate chief medical officer for quality and medical affairs at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. 

Nationwide Children’s is one of the largest standalone pediatric health systems in the country. The system manages 1.8 million patient visits per year across more than 65 sites of care.
