Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Allen became CEO in 2006.
2. During his tenure, patient visits at the hospital rose from 711,000 to 1.4 million-plus; NIH funding increased by 51 percent to $81.7 million; and a seven-year campus expansion was completed.
3. Additionally, in 2012 U.S. News & World Report named the hospital to its Honor Roll of America’s 10 Best Children’s Hospitals list.
4. Post-retirement, Dr. Allen will serve as emeritus executive for Nationwide Children’s.
