Bethany Slater, MD, has been named chief of pediatric surgery at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Slater will be responsible for advancing surgical techniques and outcomes, including the use of minimally invasive techniques, according to an Oct. 27 news release from New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System. She is known for her expertise in laparoscopic surgery for a broad range of congenital and acquired conditions.
In addition to her role as chief surgeon, Dr. Slater will serve as an associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at Mount Sinai’s Icahn S school of Medicine, also in New York City.
Dr. Slater is the former program director of the general surgery residency program at Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care, now part of Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health. She also served as associate professor of pediatric surgery at UChicago Medicine.
