Mission Health appoints Gwen McKinney VP, chief compliance officer: 3 things to know

Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health has appointed Gwen McKinney vice president and chief compliance officer. 

Here are three things to know about Ms. McKinney.

1. She had been serving as vice president and interim chief compliance officer. 

2. In her new role, Ms. McKinney will oversee the corporate compliance program for all of Mission Health.  She will have leadership responsibility for the areas of audit and compliance services and privacy, according to a news release. Additionally, she will facilitate the systemwide enterprise risk management program and oversee compliance with Mission Health's Certificate of Public Advantage, which establishes a process for on-going government oversight of hospitals and health systems related to its services and prices.

3. Ms. McKinney began her healthcare career at Mission Health as a medical laboratory technologist in 1983.  She has held multiple positions within Mission Health including positions in health information management and finance before joining audit and compliance services in 2000.  She had been serving as interim vice president and chief compliance officer since February 2015.  Prior to being named to the interim position, she served as the executive director of audit and compliance services since 2011.
