Michigan Health and Hospital Association Elects Officers and Board Members

The Michigan Health & Hospital Association has elected new officers and board members, according to a MHA news release.

Officers of the 2009 MHA Board of Trustees include Frank Sardone, chairman; Spencer Maidlow, chairman-elect; and Douglas Strong, treasurer. The board directs the Lansing-based association’s statewide representation of hospitals and healthcare providers.

Mr. Sardone, president and CEO of Bronson Healthcare Group in Kalamazoo, will serve as chairman during the association’s 2009-2010 program year beginning July 1. The terms of service of Mr. Maidlow, president and CEO of Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw, and Mr. Strong, director and CEO of the University of Michigan Hospitals & Health Centers in Ann Arbor, will also span the 2009-2010 program year. Nancy Schlichting, president and CEO of Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, will serve as immediate past chairwoman.

Newly elected board members include Mary Lou McFadden, president of the Michigan Association of Healthcare Advocates; Gene Michalski, executive vice president and COO of Beaumont Hospitals in Troy; A. Gary Muller, president and CEO of Marquette General Health System; and Matthew Van Vranken, executive vice president of Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.
