Jane McCurley, DNP, RN, will retire from her role as chief nursing officer of San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare in February.
Dr. McCurley has spent 40 years in nursing. She joined Methodist Healthcare in 2017 as CNO for Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital before being promoted to systemwide chief nursing executive in 2020. Prior to that, she spent more than 20 years in leadership roles at Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, which jointly owns Methodist Healthcare.
At Methodist Healthcare, Dr. McCurley spearheaded initiatives to advance professional development and engagement among nurses, including the Executive Nurse Residency program and Young Leader Nurse Program, according to a Dec. 9 news release.
Sherry Camacho, BSN, RN, will succeed Dr. McCurley as systemwide CNO. She has served as CNO of Methodist Hospital — the system’s flagship facility — since 2023. She joined Methodist Healthcare from HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake and Mainland, where she also served as chief nurse.
