Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center appoints new CIO

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City has tapped Atefeh “Atti” Riazi as its new CIO, the center announced Jan. 30.

Ms. Riazi, an experienced technology executive, will start Feb. 3. Her focus will be developing and implementing a long-term IT plan for the cancer center and integrating data and technology resources, according to a news release.

Before joining Memorial Sloan Kettering, Ms. Riazi  was chief information technology officer and assistant secretary general for the United Nations. She also held CIO and executive roles at the New York City Housing Authority and for New York City Transit and Ogilvy & Mather, an advertising, marketing and public relations agency.

She has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an honorary PhD in science from Stony Brook (N.Y.) University. She is the founder of CIOs Without Borders, a global nonprofit organization that uses technology to increase the availability of medical knowledge worldwide.
