Kansas system taps interim leader after strategy chief exits

Hutchinson (Kan.) Regional Healthcare System, which recently eliminated the chief strategy officer position as part of an executive team reorganization, has hired an interim CEO.

Jeff Egbert was selected as the interim CEO, and he brings more than three decades of healthcare experience to the role, according to a Dec. 20 news release shared with Becker's.

Most recently, he served at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kan., and Sunnyside, Wash.-based Astria Health.

He began his new role at Hutchinson on Dec. 19, according to the news release. Chief Quality Officer Nick Baldetti, DBA, had been serving as acting CEO following the November resignation of Ken Johnson.

"I am excited to have Jeff join our team and lead us during this time of transition," Dr. Baldetti said in the news release. "With his leadership and direction, we have a great opportunity to continue to push towards our strategic goals, and I look forward to the new ideas he will bring to the organization."

The transition period also has included eliminating the chief strategy officer position Dec. 9, affecting Charles "Chuck" Welch.

Hutchinson said its board will now focus on identifying the best candidate for the long-term role of CEO and president. No expected timeline was provided.
