Kansas system eliminates chief strategy officer role

Hutchinson (Kan.) Regional Healthcare System has eliminated the chief strategy officer position as part of an executive team reorganization, according to a news release shared with Becker's.

The health system said the position was eliminated Dec. 9, affecting Charles "Chuck" Welch.

Mr. Welch served as chief strategy officer since October 2021. Before that, he was Hutchinson Regional vice president and chief development officer.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Chuck, who has been an integral part of furthering our strategic plan the past three years, which will help set the stage for our future," acting CEO and Chief Quality Officer Nick Baldetti, DBA, said in the health system's release. "On behalf of the board and executive team, I thank Chuck for his leadership, vision and dedication to HRHS and wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Amid the elimination of Mr. Welch's position, Hutchinson Regional said its executive team "will continue to work closely together to maintain the continuity of day-to-day operations for the health system." The search for the next CEO is ongoing following the November resignation of Ken Johnson.
