Lawrence Barnard has been named president of Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health’s planned children’s hospital in Las Vegas, effectively immediately.

Mr. Barnard most recently served as associate vice president of Intermountain Children’s Health in Nevada, according to a March 27 health system news release shared with Becker’s. He joined the organization in 2021 to lead the expansion of pediatric services in the state and previously served as Nevada market president for San Francisco-based Dignity Health.

Intermountain Health Nevada Children’s Hospital — the state’s first freestanding pediatric hospital — is expected to break ground later in 2025 and begin serving patients in 2030. The project is estimated to cost $1 billion.

In his new role, Mr. Barnard will oversee construction, lead daily operations after opening and develop long-term strategies, staffing and financial stewardship.

Intermountain Health operates 34 hospitals and approximately 400 clinics.
