Homestead Hospital promotes VP Kenneth Spell to CEO

Homestead (Fla.) Hospital named Kenneth Spell CEO.

Mr. Spell most recently served as vice president of operations at Homestead Hospital, part of Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida. He has worked at the hospital for 12 years, and in that time, he helped oversee the implementation of two EHRs and expansion of the hospitalist program.

Mr. Spell previously was a planning officer for several Baptist Health South Florida hospitals.

He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives-South Florida Healthcare Executives and holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

Mr. Spell succeeds Bill Duquette, who left to serve as CEO of South Miami Hospital, also a Baptist Health South Florida facility.
