Henry Ford Health System taps Dr. Stephan Mayer to head neurology department: 5 things to know

Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System has appointed Stephan Mayer, MD, as its new chair of the department of neurology.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Mayer.

1. He started his new job Feb. 1.

2. Prior to joining Henry Ford Health System, Dr. Mayer worked at New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System.

3. At Mount Sinai, he was director of neurocritical care and was the founding director of the Institute for Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai‘s Icahn School of Medicine.

4. Previously, Dr. Mayer was the director of neurological intensive care unit at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center, both in New York City.
