Dr. David Blumenthal to Leave Partners HealthCare to Lead Commonwealth Fund

David Blumenthal, MD, will leave his role as chief health information and innovation officer at Boston-based Partners HealthCare System to serve as president of The Commonwealth Fund, effective Jan. 1.

Dr. Blumenthal currently serves as chairman of the Commonwealth Fund Commission on a High Performance Health System.

From 2009 to 2001, he served as the as U.S. National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, and before that was director of Institute for Health Policy as well as a practicing primary care physician and professor of medicine and health policy at Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners Healthcare System and Harvard Medical School.
