Dave Underriner to serve as Kaiser Permanente Hawaii president: 5 notes

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente appointed Dave Underriner president of Oahu-based Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals of Hawaii.

1. Mr. Underriner most recently served as executive vice president and CEO of Providence Health & Services’ Oregon region, based in Portland.

2. He spent 35 years at Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services, serving in numerous leadership roles.

3. As president of Kaiser Permanente’s Hawaii region, Mr. Underriner will be responsible for all healthcare and health plan operations serving 255,000-plus members.

4. He succeeds Mary Ann Barnes, RN, who retired in September 2017.

5. Bill Caswell, senior vice president and COO of Kaiser Permanente Southern California in Pasadena, stepped in to serve as interim president following Ms. Barnes’ retirement.
