Ron Kloewer plans to retire as CEO of Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics in Red Oak, Iowa, effective June 2026.
Mr. Kloewer has been with MCMH + Clinics for almost 40 years, serving in roles including director of campus development, chief information officer and COO, according to an Oct. 29 hospital news release. He became CEO in 2021 and will serve as CEO emeritus until his retirement.
Michael O’Neal, the hospital’s current COO, will succeed Mr. Kloewer after completion of a formal succession plan. The board intends to formally appoint Mr. O’Neal as CEO elect at its November meeting.
Mr. O’Neal joined the hospital in November 2021. His prior experience includes serving as CEO of George C. Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, for 13 years, and chief information officer of Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Neb., for 10 years.
Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics includes a 25-bed critical access hospital, several rural health clinics and an outpatient speciality clinic.
