Under his leadership, UMMC has received much recognition. This year it was named one of 100 great hospitals in the United States by Becker’s Hospital Review. It also received a Gold Award from the American Heart Association as a fit-friendly company for the fourth straight year and was ranked on U.S News & World Report’s Best Hospitals List.
Prior to serving as CEO of University of Maryland Medical Center, Mr. Rivest served The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for 16 years. He was senior vice president for clinical and ambulatory services from 1988 to 1990 and executive vice president and COO from 1990 to 2004. Prior to that, he served as administrator of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore from 1983 to 1988.
