Patti Jurkus, CEO of Centra Bedford (Va.) Memorial Hospital, retired July 5, ending a 10-year tenure, according to The Roanoke Times.

1. Ms. Jurkus became the first female CEO of the hospital in 2009.

2. She has 30 years of healthcare experience.

3. During her tenure, she oversaw several renovations to the facility.

4. Bill Bass Jr. will succeed Ms. Jurkus as CEO.

5. Mr. Bass most recently served as senior vice president of community hospitals for Lynchburg, Va.-based Centra Health, the Bedford facility’s parent.

6. Mr. Bass was previously CFO and then CEO of Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Va.
