Kenny Shafer has been named CEO of UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham (Ala.), effective Sept. 2.
Mr. Shafer brings more than a decade of healthcare leadership experience, according to an Aug. 7 news release from Birmingham-based UAB Medicine. Since 2021, he has served as CEO of Johnson City (Tenn.) Medical Center, the 501-bed flagship facility of Ballad Health.
During his tenure, he helped elevate the hospital’s recognition for quality and performance and expanded clinical services, the release said.
Mr. Shafer previously served as the hospital’s vice president and COO, according to his LinkedIn profile.
UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is a 409-bed acute care hospital.
