Art Blank to retire as CEO of Maine hospital

Arthur J. Blank, president and CEO of Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, Maine, will retire at the end of this year.

Mr. Blank has helmed the hospital since 1999.

During Mr. Blank’s tenure, Mount Desert established a breast health center and the Birch Bay Village retirement community, according to the Bangor Daily News. The hospital also incorporated nine community health centers, achieved critical access hospital designation and formed a teaching partnership with Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine.

Mr. Blank’s successor has not been named.
