7 CEOs share exit plans as new year draws near

This November — with the end of the calendar year in sight — several hospital and health system CEOs shared plans to leave their roles in the coming months. 

Becker's reported seven CEO resignations and retirements last month: 

1. Tommy Ibrahim, MD, is exiting his role as CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network in Cooperstown, N.Y., at the end of the year. 

2. Harold Naramore, MD, CEO of Maryville, Tenn.-based Blount Memorial Hospital, is resigning, effective Jan. 1.

3. Steen Trawick, MD, will step down from his role as CEO and chief medical officer of Christus Shreveport-Bossier Health System in Shreveport, La., on Dec. 1.

4. Mike Robinson will retire as CEO of Emeryville, Calif.-based Canopy Health at the year's end. Ken Wood will succeed him.

5. Michelle Fortune, BSN, will exit her role as CEO of St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, N.C., on Dec. 31. 

6.  Sarah Morrison is retiring from her position as CEO of the Shepherd Center on Sept. 24, 2024. Jamie Shepherd, the hospital's current COO and son of its co-founder, will succeed her.

7. Anthony Coleman, DHA, stepped down from his role as president and CEO of Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He accepted a new role as the inaugural CEO of Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, a new hospital being built in Washington, D.C.
