25 latest hospital, health system executive moves

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following hospital and health system executive moves in the last week.

The moves are listed below, in alphabetical order by the executive's last name.

1. UPMC named Richard Beigi, MD, president of UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, effective Jan. 1, 2019, becoming the first physician to hold the position.

2. Birmingham, Ala.-based Brookwood Baptist Health named Susan Bria permanent chief nursing officer of Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, Ala.

3. St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa., tapped Lawrence Brilliant, MD, to serve as president, effective Nov. 19.

4. Greenville, N.C.-based Vidant Health named Judy Bruno, MSN, RN, president of Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, N.C., effective Nov. 26.

5. Sulbrena Day, PhD, RN, COO of Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, Ill., will assume the responsibilities of chief nurse officer.

6. Bentonville, Ark.-based Northwest Health appointed Hans Driessnack CEO of Northwest Medical Center-Springdale (Ark.), effective Dec. 3.

7. Gary Fammartino, president of St. Vincent Fishers (Ind.) and St. Vincent Carmel (Ind.) hospitals, is retiring Jan. 1, 2019.

8. Jackson, Mich.-based Henry Ford Allegiance Health President and CEO Georgia Fojtasek will retire in 2019.

9. Patrick Gavin, CEO of Springfield, Pa.-based Crozer-Keystone Health System, resigned.

10. Greenville, N.C.-based Vidant Health selected Debra Hernandez, RN, president of Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, N.C.

11. Abilene, Texas-based Hendrick Health System selected Brad Holland to serve as president and CEO.

12. Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, Ill., named Joe Jansen president.

13. Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin appointed Stephen F. Kenney CFO.

14. John Knox, CEO of St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, plans to retire at the end of the year.

15. Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., selected Joshua D. Lenchus, DO, to serve as CMO.

16. Bar Harbor, Maine-based Mount Desert Island Hospital selected Christina Maguire to serve as senior vice president and COO, a newly created role.

17. Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare appointed Sonia Mehta, MD, regional CEO of Lower Bucks Hospital.

18. Springfield, Pa.-based Crozer-Keystone Health System appointed Sharif Omar CEO.

19. Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, W.Va., selected Kyle Pierson to serve as CFO, effective in January 2019.

20. Eric Schmacker, PhD, will become CEO of St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

21. John Schon, CEO of Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain, Mich., will resign effective Dec. 31.

22. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System appointed Karen Steely COO of Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Ga., and Murray Medical Center in Chatsworth, Ga.

23. Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network appointed Paul G. Swinko corporate CFO and vice president of finance for Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, effective in January 2019.

24. Gina Temple, PhD, will become CEO of Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

25. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic selected Kent Thielen, MD, vice president of Mayo Clinic and CEO of Mayo Clinic's Florida campus in Jacksonville.
