The IT trade group’s report is based on an analysis of last week’s U.S. Labor Department data, which found that the unemployment rate for tech jobs in July was 4.4 percent, compared to 4.3 percent in June.
Four report details:
1. The drop in IT jobs last month may be because some firms and companies are waiting to assess how the company develops in response to how states navigate school reopenings and how the next government stimulus package plays out, said Tim Herbert, CompTIA’s executive vice president for research and marketing intelligence.
2. Across all sectors, IT job postings fell to about 235,000 in July, down from 269,000 in June and about 358,000 in March.
3. The sectors with the most tech-job postings in July were professional and technical services at 39,956 postings, followed by finance and insurance at 18,756 and manufacturing at 17,473.
4. While July saw job losses, more than 500,000 IT jobs have been added so far in 2020, including a net of 203,000 jobs between April and July.
