This partnership builds on another agreement between the universities, which was signed in 2015. That agreement facilitated collaboration in digital gaming, including game development and gaming business model strategies. It also lay the groundwork for the creation of the Research Center for Digital Wellbeing, which has a branch at the University of Utah extension on the Chung-Ang University campus in Songdo, South Korea.

The universities plan to build on their previous work, in part by leveraging gaming strategies for digital medical solutions. The ultimate goal of this new partnership is to share best practices, research and other knowledge related to telehealth.
