In a statement from New York City Health and Hospitals, which operates the facility, officials said there is no evidence to suggest the information contained on the laptop has been misused and it’s likely the computer was stolen for its market value, seeing as the information on it would be of limited use to anyone other than patients or staff.

The incident occurred on either Aug. 18 or 19, according to a statement from Woodhull. Facility representatives said law enforcement has been notified and there is an active investigation into the theft. Woodhull is also reviewing its security precautions.
