Nuance confirmed the cyberattack caused disruptions to the company’s transcription services and radiology critical test results June 28. Nuance officials also took select solutions offline as a precautionary measure to contain the malware.
Nuance released a customer update June 28, stating, “we are unsure of the duration of this transcription and critical test results outage … we recommend all physicians stop using any transcription platform or critical test results immediately and initiate your clinical documentation back up plan.”
Officials said some services affected during the cyberattack have resumed, including the eScription LH clinical documentation platform, which went online July 5, and servers for the Dragon Medical Practice Edition speech recognition software, which were restored July 7. However, not all clients have redeployed these products.
Nuance said “several large clients with multiple sites are fully functional and doctors are dictating on our eScription LH platform” as of July 9. The company also brought transcription services for clients using eScription RH and Clinic 360 back online July 3.
