Movers and shakers: 14 latest leadership changes affecting health IT

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following hospital and health system CIO and chief technology officer moves, as well as other executive moves, affecting health IT companies and federal agencies during the past month:

1. Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System appointed Jeffrey Sturman senior vice president and CIO.

2. Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center selected Thomas R. Schoenig to serve as CIO.

3. The U.S. Defense Department snagged former DXC Technology CTO Michael Conlin as its first-ever chief data officer.

4. American Well appointed Keith Anderson as its CFO.

5. HHS CIO Beth Killoran is leaving her post to join the HHS Office of the Surgeon General and develop a comprehensive information systems strategic plan for the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

6. Lyft appointed Manish Gupta vice president of engineering, a newly created position.

7. Nashville (Tenn.) General Hospital appointed Eric Stephens chief analytics officer.

8. Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, which operates Munster, Ind.-based Community Healthcare System, named Jesus Delgado, PhD, vice president of IT and CIO.

9. Cambia Health Solutions selected Faraz Shafiq to serve as chief artificial intelligence officer.

10. Cerner President Zane Burke will step down from his post at the company Nov. 2.

11. Andrew Moore, PhD, dean of the school of computer science at Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Mellon University, will leave his role at the university to head up Google Cloud's artificial intelligence efforts full-time at the end of 2018.  

12. Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System tapped Mark Amey to serve as CIO.

13. Seaford, Del.-based Nanticoke Health Services selected Steffan Williams to serve as CIO.

14. Apple's added  M. Osman Akhtar, COO of the nonprofit Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services, to its health team.
