The school decided to use biometric scanners to verify student attendance after it switched to a more flexible modular scheduling system. The school will not be able to access the students’ fingerprints, said John Newell, Excelsior Springs High School principal, according to fox4kc.com.

School officials said the more flexible scheduling system, mixed with measures to improve student accountability, will better prepare students for tomorrow’s workforce. “The world has changed what our graduates need,” Mr. Newell added.
